Training, personal progression & innovation
AMCO believes in the value of training and up-skilling. We hire people from a wide range of backgrounds & experience, and train all individually.
Each new engineer undergoes a 3 week+ introductory training programme at the AMCO Academy. Field training, accompanying established AMCO engineers will also be provided - so you get to learn our unique equipment.
We also provide ongoing monthly training, run quarterly innovation days & bi-annual engineer conferences to ensure our engineering team is as skilled as possible and progressing as much as possible.
Essential Role Requirements
The general requirements needed to be an alarm engineer at AMCO, are to be able to install Intruder Alarms and CCTV Systems to the relevant standards and to provide the highest level of customer service and standards, whilst balancing budgets and time schedules.
Geography : Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, York, Newcastle, London
Experience: Only highly qualified candidates with over two years experience in the UK and impeccable references will be considered.
Communication skills : Excellent communication skills are a requirement of this role. Strong spoken and written English is a must.
Attitude : the best candidates will be dedicated to providing the best customer service, be ambitious, self-motivated and enthusiastic and are comfortable working on their own. They must also be willing to undertake irregular working hours.
Skills needed to be a burglar alarm installer at AMCO
The kinds of skills needed to be a successful intruder alarm installer are a mix of technical knowledge, ideally experience in security systems (although not 100% necessary as we provide training), and the ability to 'install' (i.e. have a driving license, know how to install equipment).
Experience: Experience installing equipment (e.g. telecommunications, CCTV, alarm or other electronics)
Technical know-how: Must possess sound electrical knowledge and have proven background through recognised apprenticeship or hold similar qualification
British Standards: Knowledge of the British Standard BS 8243 (Intruder)
Drivers License: Must hold a full clean driving licence
Installation ability: Ability to lift, carry and climb ladders. To carry equipment, ie; cameras etc up and down ladders ensuring conformance to health and safety requirements
Repair skills: Ability to use power tools to repair and / or dismantle equipment
